Hey, everyone -

When I heard that one in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, I knew I had to do something about it. I don't have a lot of money, and I can't find a cure for cancer, but I found out that there was something that I could do to help. I'm walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure.

It's a three-day, 60-mile walk. Net proceeds from the Komen 3-Day for the Cure are invested in breast cancer research and community programs. We walk because everyone deserves a lifetime. Every mother, every sister, every daughter deserves to know a life free from breast cancer.

It's going to be tough to fit fundraising and training into my schedule but I know I can do it. I'm going to raise $3,00 for the cause. Here's how you can be part of this too. You can support me and the cause by making a donation. Follow the link below to visit my personal fundraising Web page and make a donation. If you don't want to give online, you can download and print a donation form from that page to send in a donation via mail. It does not take much, some it better than none! Presently, I am at $755! Each walker has to raise, $2,300 to walk, I have been training to walk. Help me walk, Help find a cure! Donate today, please!

Thank you for your support. I'd appreciate it if you could make your donation by June 30, so I'll have plenty of time to reach my goal. I'll keep you updated on my progress as I fundraise and train - and send you a picture of me at the finish line!

Sincerely,

Tamara L. Wilhite

I wish you had PayPal on the website so that I can give a donation through it. That is the only way I donate or give money over the internet.  I don't write checks either so I can't send a check.  I am suprised that they don't offer this payment option.  I wish you luck in your endeavor.  I will pray you meet your goals and that a cure for cancer will soon be discovered.   Thanks for helping.

God bless,

College Mom

I am sorry for not replying earlier! My laptop hit the bucket after 10years of service! I am thankful for the long life it had. I knew it was on theway out and had been researching for a replacement, but was not financiallyready. Thank God for Moms! I do not owe her much!

Ok....You asked....payment plans and paying with check. They actuallydo take checks via in the mail.

They also encourage the "walkers" to approach potentialdonors by asking instead of making one flat donation make 2 or 3 donation andcommit to a little bit larger amount.

I am not sure that is why you were meaning...there example was insteadof asking for $25.00; ask for $ 20 for 2 months in a row commitment.

I am not asking that of you or of anyone.

Right now...what I am asking of people....

This is the letter I sent out this morning to about 100people…but my last blast only resulted in 2 donations: $25.00 and $50.00. I am so very thankful for them!

***I removed her name since this is about a student at this school!***

It is hardtimes right now….will you please consider this as you read it…..

I added a new Breast Cancer Survivor today to my Susan G.Komen website today.

She is a classmate in my current Sociology class.

I am proud of her for revealing this to me and the class.

I used my upcoming with the Susan G. Komen walk as anexample to define a term in which she replied with the fact that she is aBreast Cancer survivor 5-month out and counting.

That is still pretty new and I really give her credit forsticking to college during this time.

I know that has to be extremely hard for her.

When my grandmother was doing chemotherapy, she could noteven read her books it would make her throw-up and I remember how weak she was during that time!

She was just so nauseated.

I should be posting a photo of  Student's name removed soon to m ywebsite.

She is looking for a photo to email to me.

I have raised $1,796, with a minimum goal of $2,300 perwalker, but I have set my personal goal to reach $3,000.

The remaining amount of $ 1,204, I only need 49 people todonated $25 each to reach goal.

Remember you gift of $25 will go toward helping to cure Breast Cancer!

Not only do you get a tax deductable receipt from Susan G.Komen, but you are helping to solve Breast Cancer! How powerful is that?

For me it isabsolutely amazing to a part of something so incredible. In 2008, my lump thatwas removed was the size of a tangerine.

The biopsy did come back benign, but the surgery, thewaiting, the scar reminds me daily whatthese ladies and men go through!

I walk because I can!

I walk because everybody deserves a lifetime!

If a love one had breast cancer you would do anything tohelp, I am doing it today!

Let’s find a cure before the next family member gets Breast Cancer!

One in eight women will get Breast Cancer!
